Downtown Boy Scout Troop – Summer Scouting Update

Recently we reported that for almost 100 years families have been coming downtown to be part of one of the most successful Boy Scout Troops in Minnesota.

Troop 33, based at Westminster Presbyterian Church, has been in operation since 1918. Troop 33 has always been inclusive and boys of all backgrounds come from across the metro area to join the troop, known especially for high adventure and youth leadership opportunities.

This year our annual June trip provided 7 days of adventure in South Dakota for 23 scouts. The boys hiked in the Black Hills, went swimming, visited Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, and saw lots of wildlife! Currently, scouts are meeting on Mondays for fun activities and getting ready to attend our own Camp Ajawah.

Troop 33 has graduated well over 300 Eagle Scouts and membership continues to grow. If you have sons aged 10-17 who are interested in Scouts, check out Troop 33.

Also, with growing numbers of families locating downtown there is strong interest to establish a Cub Scout pack at Westminster for boys 5-10. The Cub program is a great way to get started in scouting.
